Mary Lou will talk about her new book, Only One Me On Our Big Blue Marble. Her book, primarily geared for pre-teen girls, is a plea for self-acceptance — a message for women of all ages.
The first half of her story is true. Mary Lou lived it. The second half is how she wished the event had unfolded. Sadly, that is not how it played out. Thanks to social media, advertising and photoshop, we are still often failing to make peace with our bodies. It is Mary Lou’s fervent hope that the message of acceptance and kindness supplant the relentless drumming of our society that keeps girls and women in a constant state of war with their bodies.
