Jan is currently president of National Council of Jewish Women Chicago North Shore. She also organized two local coalitions: Promote the Vote Illinois and Promote Equity Illinois. Both coalitions quickly grew to more than 30 organizations with many supporting members. Given the pandemic, the growth of voter suppression, and the threat of many of our rights being challenged, joining forces to have the greatest voice possible became Jan’s major goal.

At our meeting, Jan will focus on Promote the Vote Illinois (PTV IL), where she’ll review the history of PTV IL, discuss it’s mission and accomplishments, talk about membership, and provide action steps we can take to preserve democracy and all of our rights.

Jan Schwartz  is a retired licensed psychologist and social worker, who received her graduate degrees at Washington University in St. Louis.  For 40 years, she was a provider in Minneapolis, where she first developed and directed a low/no cost counseling center. She then was the director of The Rape and Sexual Assault Center in Minneapolis. Following that, she had a successful private practice for thirty years, specializing in multiple clinical areas.

We hope you’ll join us for this important discussion about Promote the Vote Illinois.
