Everyone has been talking about Texas’ recent ban on abortion, and what it means for those in need of care. While the U.S. Supreme Court debates (and continues to allow Texas’ S.B. 8 to remain in effect), advocates and providers are doing their best to care for Texans. Verónica Cruz is one of these activists. Although she’s working in Mexico, not Texas.  Visit Las Libres to learn more.

Now that Mexico has declared that abortion is no longer a crime, Verónica and other activists are working to help Texans who are seeking abortion care by transporting them to Mexico. They’ve also already built a network to distribute abortion pills north of the border to those who cannot access them in their own state.

Verónica has been fighting to help Mexican women access abortion care for years, and now she’s doing it for American women too. She has said, “We aren’t afraid… We are willing to face criminalization, because women’s lives matter more than their law.”

On Monday, March 14th, Jane’s Army — part of Personal PAC — is excited and honored to welcome Verónica along with Nadine Goodman, Co-founder of CASA, and Celina Villanueva, Illinois State Senator, to its second virtual event! We hope you will tune in to hear directly from Verónica, Nadine, and Sen. Villanueva about the fight to protect reproductive rights – from Illinois, to Mexico, and beyond.
