The North & Northwest Suburban Chicago Chapter of NOW was formed several decades ago via the merger of the North Suburban Chapter and the Northwest Suburban Chapter, each of which had long and storied histories. We invite all feminists to join us. Chapter meetings and events – all virtual since the start of the pandemic – are typically at 7 p.m. Central Time on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Also, please visit our website’s NETWORK Page for links to a wide variety of feminist groups.
Feminism – the conscious liberation of the female state, as Annie Lenox described it and Aretha Franklin sang it in “Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves” – is the cornerstone of all human liberation.
We invite you to join us as members of the National Organization for Women. Dues are $40 per year. Please specify IL0010 (that’s us) as your chapter when you sign up.
The National Organization for Women is the largest organization of feminist grassroots activists in the United States. NOW has hundreds of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. NOW practices grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
Founded in the late 1960’s, NOW is fueled by its vast network of dedicated and committed feminist activists. It’s all about grassroots democracy — exemplified in its structure of state and local chapters — and intersectional feminism – we’re leaving nobody behind this time. Our six core issues are reproductive rights and justice, ending violence against women, economic justice, LGBTQ rights, racial justice, and constitutional equality for women.
