Repeal Parental Notice Now–A Forum and Discussion

January 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

An online forum and discussion on the Illinois Parental Notice Act (PNA), which requires parental notice before a minor can obtain an abortion, and the harm it causes.

Featuring famed attorneys Emily Werth and Melissa Widen

Imagine this situation: You’re 15 … you’re pregnant … and you can’t tell your parents.  In Illinois, young people in this situation are forced by law to plead for their right to an abortion to a judge, a process that can be deeply shaming and humiliating. This horrendous requirement of the Illinois Parental Notice Act (PNA) has to be stopped. We’ve got more than six years of proof: requiring parental notice causes serious harm to way too many young people. It’s time to repeal it.

Ms. Werth and Ms. Widen will describe real-life stories of the lived experiences of young  people whose situation at home is such that they would prefer to go before a judge than tell anyone.
