On Monday, May 11th from 1-2 PM (CST), special guests Marie Newman and Terra Costa Howard will join us for a conversation about winning elections as pro-choice champions.

  • Marie Newman assembled a winning campaign organization to defeat an entrenched 16 year anti-choice incumbent in the March Democratic primary to represent Illinois’ 3rd Congressional district. While Dan Lipinski has held the seat since 2005, Newman never stopped campaigning after her narrow 2018 loss, carrying her pro-choice message to her March 2020 victory. Newman now heads to the November election to become the next Congressperson from the 3rd district.

  • Terra Costa Howard currently serves as State Representative in the 48th House district. In 2018, she defeated anti-choice leader and incumbent representative, Peter Breen, who was one of the state’s most prominent anti-choice politicians, sponsoring dangerous bills and filing lawsuits against HB 40 and the RHA. While Breen had national anti-choice support and funding, Costa Howard had a winning campaign team and message. She now faces a re-match with Breen, who is trying to take back his former seat.

These two pro-choice women will offer valuable insights on running against and defeating anti-choice incumbents at both the state and national level. This is an exciting opportunity to hear directly from them ahead of November’s election. The conversation will be hosted by Personal PAC board chair Eileen Dordek and board member Jerry Newton and will include a Q+A session.

Feel free to forward this invitation to anyone who might be interested. We hope you will join us!
