It is never too soon to plan for your care in the event of a serious illness.  Ms. Sherman will speak about end-of-life care options and advance care planning, the medicalization of the end of life and its implications, and various care options for those at the end of life.  She’ll demonstrate free online tools for advance care planning, including in the event of a dementia or COVID-19 diagnosis.  And most important, she’ll talk about the movement to get medical aid-in-dying authorized in Illinois, and advocacy work happening in Illinois and across the country.

As the Midwest regional campaign and outreach manager for Compassion & Choices, a national non-profit organization, Amy Sherman is an advocate for expanding end-of-life options and empowering people to take charge of their own journeys. She is leading a statewide coalition in Illinois, and oversees activities in several other Midwestern states. Over her career, she has led national and state policy initiatives and provided technical assistance to government, business and institutions on a variety of issues, including adult learning and workforce development.
