Frances Willard (1839-1898) was one of the most prominent social reformers in 19th-century America.  President of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, her house at 1730 Chicago Avenue in Evanston was a headquarters for efforts to achieve the right of women to vote -- a right that was won in Illinois only 100 years ago!
